Terms of Service

Effective: 2026-08-02 · v1.1

This page sets out the terms governing how clients, interpreters, and MetaPret work together on the platform. The actual legal document below is structured around six questions:

  1. Who can use MetaPret?
  2. What does MetaPret promise clients?
  3. What does MetaPret expect from clients and interpreters?
  4. How are payments and refunds handled?
  5. How are cancellations, refunds, and overtime handled?
  6. What happens if something goes wrong?

Section 1: Eligibility

MetaPret is intended for use by businesses, organizations, and verified professional interpreters. By using the platform, you confirm that you have the legal authority to bind your organization (if booking on behalf of one) and that you are at least 18 years old.

Section 2: Platform service

MetaPret matches clients with verified interpreters across 8 hub cities. Verification is performed before matching according to the methodology published at /how-it-works. MetaPret provides the matching service. The interpretation itself is delivered by independent interpreter professionals, not by MetaPret employees.

Section 3: Client responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about engagement scope, language pair, date, location, and domain
  • Pay the agreed-upon all-in quote within the agreed timeline
  • Provide reasonable working conditions for the matched interpreter (briefing materials when applicable, breaks for engagements over 90 minutes, etc.)

Section 4: Interpreter responsibilities

Verified interpreters agree to:

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information shared in engagements
  • Complete the engagement test for each engagement
  • Provide professional interpretation services at the standard demonstrated in their entry and per-engagement testing
  • Notify MetaPret immediately of any conflicts of interest

Section 5: Fees and payments

MetaPret charges clients one all-in quote per engagement, set by the platform. Interpreters receive 100% of their agreed pay. MetaPret never charges interpreters a platform fee, and the platform's portion is never itemized to either party. Specific pricing is set per engagement and communicated before booking confirmation.

Section 6: Cancellation, refund & overtime

Cancellation charges apply per scheduled session, based on the notice given before that session's date: 7 days or more before the session date — no charge; within 7 days of the session date — 50% of the amount for that session; on the session date itself — 100% of the amount for that session.

Sessions already performed are payable in full. For engagements spanning multiple dates, each session is assessed separately against its own scheduled date.

Travel, accommodation and similar costs already incurred are payable on submission of receipts, regardless of when the cancellation is given.

Refund procedure and timing. If a paid engagement is cancelled or a refund otherwise becomes due, we refund to your original payment method. Card payments are reversed by card payment cancellation, and bank transfers are refunded to the paying account. The refund amount is determined by the cancellation terms above and the resolution terms in Section 7; where payment was made by card, the refund is calculated on the net amount received by MetaPret after payment processing fees. Once the refund amount is confirmed, we process the refund (or request the card payment cancellation) within 3 business days. For card payments, the time for the cancellation to appear on your card statement may take additional business days depending on your card issuer's policy. To request a cancellation or refund, contact cs@metapret.net.

Overtime beyond the scheduled hours is billed at the applicable hourly rate in 30-minute increments.

Section 7: If a match falls short

If the match does not meet professional expectations, contact cs@metapret.net within 7 days of the engagement. We will review the specific circumstances and work with you to determine an appropriate resolution.

Section 8: Confidentiality

All client and interpreter information shared on the platform is held confidentially per MetaPret's Privacy Policy. Engagement-specific information shared during interpretation is subject to interpreter professional confidentiality obligations.

Section 9: Disputes and governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes shall be resolved in the Seoul Central District Court unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Section 10: Changes to these Terms

MetaPret may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to active users and reflected in the updated “Effective date” above. Continued use of the platform after a Terms update constitutes acceptance.
