About MetaPret

The platform was built by a working interpreter.

MetaPret is the platform Paul Dahoon Kim wished existed when he was the interpreter in the room.

Why this platform exists

Most interpreter platforms are built by software engineers studying the market from outside. MetaPret was built by an interpreter who has lived inside it.

Founder Paul Dahoon Kim has worked as an English-Korean interpreter across roughly 100 engagements in some of the highest-stakes language settings: military intelligence briefings, international cooperation meetings between governments, and executive engagements where a single sentence carried real consequences. He passed MetaPret's own assessment rubric before launching the platform publicly.

He saw the same pattern over and over: clients pay agency markups for interpreters they cannot benchmark. Interpreters with real skill lose engagements to interpreters with louder networks. Nobody verifies who can actually do the work before the booking is made.

MetaPret exists to invert that pattern.

What we believe

We believe that when language matters, skill should be the proof.

Not connections. Not price. Not a resume that says “experienced.” The actual ability to do the work, verified before the match, should be the only thing standing between a client and the interpreter they hire.

Every interpreter on MetaPret passes a two-layer skill verification before they ever appear as a match candidate. They are then re-verified for the specific domain of every engagement they apply to. Two evaluator-interpreters plus an AI Monitor score each layer against a published 15-point rubric. There are no exceptions and no shortcuts.

The result is a network where every match is one we can stand behind, and a system where the interpreters who do the best work get the work, regardless of who they know.

Built in Korea, designed for the world

MetaPret is headquartered in Seoul and operates across 8 hub cities: Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, Bangkok, Istanbul, Dubai, and Ho Chi Minh City. Each hub city has a local pool of verified interpreters ready for in-person engagements, conferences, factory visits, and cross-border executive travel.

We don't try to be everywhere. We try to be undeniable in the places we operate.

Founder & CEO

  • Around 100 professional Korean-English interpretation engagements
  • Background: military intelligence + international cooperation
  • Verified on MetaPret's standardized assessment
  • Based in Seoul

Paul personally takes on a small number of high-stakes engagements every quarter, not as a business model, but to stay in practice. He believes a platform run by someone who has stopped doing the work eventually stops understanding it.
